Project communications is an art in itself

Communications is critical to successful organizational or cultural change, or implementation of new systems, products and work methods. Project communications is an art in itself, which Involve mastered by having developed and executing internal communications for more than a hundred smaller and larger projects.

Elements of project communications

Our approach to project communications includes:

  • Project and stakeholder analysis.
  • Project positioning: key messaging in words and visuals.
  • Managing the context by assessing and clustering stakeholders and their responsibilities.
  • Developing a strategy and supporting tactics, including choices on line managers’ communication roles, facilitating interaction, creating concepts and campaigns, options for input and involvement, and timing of the communication in line with project planning and approach.
  • Communications around the project, including team building, setting up a communication structure for meetings, reporting, (online) news letters and sites.
  • Planning, executing, evaluating and adjusting the communications.

Multi-step approach to project communication

Involve has developed a multi-step approach to project communication (In Dutch. Please contact us if you would like more information) that matches most well-known project management methodologies and has been tried and tested in practice. As part of Involve’s vision on and approach to project communication, it enables project managers and communications consultants to build a coherent plan, strongly focusing on effective internal communications with and between all parties involved. Thus we carry out our mission 'to move people to achieve results’.

Elements of the multi-step approach to project communication

Among other things, the multi-step approach to project communications includes:

  • Tailored workshops to train your team in building a full communication plan for a variety of projects, that matches most project management methods used.
  • A template that helps build the project communication plan.
  • A model to manage the context of the project. The Involve circle model© helps to define the various responsibilities of stakeholders and other parties involved and have them taken on, which is crucial for timely and consistent communications to and engagement of stakeholders.
  • Consultancy and guidance in building the plan by one of our (senior) consultants.

Projects are often related to (large) change programs in organizations and internal communication is crucial to change. Read more about our vision on change communication or our products for project communicationIlse van Ravenstein is happy to provide you with more information or discuss options.
